Greetings from the Anglers Chair,

It has been some time since I have written for the Shorelines, so I wanted to give a quick rundown on some of the Anglers events for 2005. For those in need of fishing tackle or are looking for a trip to Alaska or Mexico, the Fred Hall Fishing & Tackle Show runs from March 2-6 at the Long Beach Convention Center. This is the largest tackle show in the world, so do not miss out on this great event. The SYC Anglers will host a fishing and tackle seminar on March 26 at 1:00 PM in the education room. We will discuss basic angling tactics, methods, tackle rigging and knots. There will be raffle prizes for those who attend. There is no charge for the seminar, so bring your friends and family to learn the basics of fishing from California to Cabo. On April 30, 2005 the Anglers will host the 7th Annual SYC Halibut Derby. The cost is $20.00 per angler and you must pay at the time you sign up. The rules for the derby are posted at the club. This has always been a fun and relaxed event although there will be some serious contenders returning to take on their fellow SYC anglers. There will be some amazing prizes for 1st through 3rd place winners. In 2004 we gave away over $1000.00 in prizes. The derby is open to anyone in the Long Beach Shoreline Marina and friends and family of any SYC member. For more information on any event, feel free to contact me.

TRIP # 1
2-Day on the PACIFIC STAR. Departs Seaforth Landing Friday Night July 15, 2005. Returns Sunday July 17th @ 7:00 PM. Price of $435.00 includes all meals & Mexican permits. (does not include, tackle rental, beer, water, sodas, fish cleaning and tip). Deposit of 50% required to sign up. Balance is due 30 days prior to trip.

TRIP # 2
2-Day on the PACIFIC STAR. Departs Seaforth Landing Friday Night AUGUST 12th, 2005. Returns Sunday AUGUST 14th @ 7:00 PM. Price of $495.00 includes all meals & Mexican permits. (does not include, tackle rental, beer, water, sodas, fish cleaning and tip). Deposit of 50% required to sign up. Balance is due 30 days prior to trip.

TRIP # 3
2 ½ Day on the PACIFIC STAR. Departs Seaforth Landing Friday Night September 9th, 2005. Returns Monday Morning September 12th @ 7:00 AM. Price of $475.00 includes all meals & Mexican permits. (does not include, tackle rental, beer, water, sodas, fish cleaning and tip). Deposit of 50% required to sign up. Balance is due 30 days prior to trip.
