11 Great Reasons To Join Shoreline Yacht Club
  1. Use Your Boat More Often. Our many club activities will give you more reasons to get out on your boat, and reciprocal agreements with other yacht clubs in the US and abroad allow for use of their facilities by simply presenting your SYC membership card when away from home port.
  2. Great Social Activities. Ever wonder what to do on the weekend? The club will help fill your agenda with our many social events.
  3. Cruises, Cruises, Cruises. We have one of the most active cruise groups in the area. With ten cruises scheduled every season, it is not uncommon to have sixty of our members’ boats show up to join in the festivities.
  4. Boating Safety and Education Classes. Our club offers an accredited program in boater education taught by members of the United States Power Squadron and the Unisted States Coast Guard, in addition to other classes taught by our members and other professionals.
  5. Great Angling. Whether you are an avid fisherman or the occasional angler, you will have an opportunity to improve your skills with the wide variety of seminars taught by noted fishermen. You will learn what you need to know to land the big one, and then you can head out on the water to reel ‘em in.
  6. Racing, Racing, Racing. We sponsor a wide variety of sailboat racing series, and your SYC membership allows you to participate in other clubs’ races from all over the area. For cruisers or power boaters, there are also numerous opportunities to crew on fellow members’ boats.
  7. Predicted Log Racing. Whether you are a power boater or a sailor, we have an impressive program in predicted log racing for which our club holds many trophies and honors. We also have programs and seminars to get you involved if you are new to the sport.
  8. SARA. The Shoreline Amateur Radio Association is a group of SYC members who are amateur radio operators dedicated to serving Shoreline Yacht Club and the local community. SARA operates and maintains Radio Station K6SYC at Shoreline Yacht Club. They also maintain SYC’s Marine Radio station, KYL910, in support of SYC’s on-the-water activities and the K6SYC weather station at the club.
  9. Diving, Diving, Diving. Whether above the water or below, our club is the place to have fun with organized dives that are scheduled several times per season.
  10. Great Food. Come dine with fellow members on Friday and Saturday evenings, or on Sunday for brunch. The galley offers great meals at very affordable prices. And don’t forget to bring your guests!
  11. Make New Friends. Perhaps the best reason to join is all the new friends you will make who share similar interests. Our club is filled with people you will want to know!

We are a young, energetic and fast-growing yacht club, proud of our recently expanded and newly decorated clubhouse. the cozy full-service bar overlooks the board walk of Shoreline Village, part of the Downtown Marina and the skyline of Long Beach. The adjacent dining room provides a relaxed, casual setting for all to share their latest boating experiences. Window seats in the existing facility dining room overlook the marina and the Queen Mary. We are the only yacht club facility in the 1,750 slip Shoreline Marina.

Although Shoreline Yacht Club is unique in its location, it is our membership, from our volunteer bartenders to our flag officers, that make the club happen. Our affordable monthly dues broaden our membership and encourage family participation.

As a member of our yacht club, you will find more opportunities to enjoy your boat. You'll cruise to different harbors and anchorage's with other members. Our cruises frequently include dinner at another yacht club. Mix in a few new friends and a good party now and then, and you get the "total yacht club experience." The following membership opportunities/benefits are available in addition to those presented on the following pages.

Community Affairs

SYC is an active participant in the local Charity Regatta supporting Children's hospital.

Angling

If fishing is your game - we have a group that combines such activities with our cruising enthusiasts.

Reciprocity

One of the often overlooked benefits of a membership in a Yacht Club is the reciprocity privileges that are available. Members of Shoreline Yacht Club can enjoy the use of over forty other clubs from Santa Barbara to San Diego that have entered into formal reciprocity agreements with us. Beyond this, however, there is a sort of unwritten policy wherein most yacht clubs generally welcome members of other clubs located more that 100 miles distant, enabling with but a few exceptions, regular members of Shoreline Yacht Club access to the facilities of other yacht clubs throughout the World. This benefit often includes the possibility of obtaining a slip or mooring (for a limited time) either free of charge or at minimal cost.
